The Luckiest Man in the World is a short story I wrote during the Winter of 2017, published by Confluence, an online platform for student writing, art, and research at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study during March of 2018. The concept was inspired during a family vacation in which each night was spent sitting around the kitchen table playing endless games of Yahtzee. Rather than rolling for specific combinations, I began rolling exclusively for Yahtzee. I became obsessed with the idea of being able to control chance or luck.
